Heir

Pitch · The intelligent account

A household balance that knows what happens next: it moves to the people you named when you go quiet, slowly, with a letter for each, and comes home the moment you touch your phone.

01The problem

When someone dies, is hospitalised, or simply goes dark, the money they kept for their family is the last thing the family can reach. Wills are read too late. A password in a drawer is found too late or never. Crypto's answer, key recovery, is all or nothing: it fails exactly when people are grieving and guessing.

Nothing before Arc could do the humane version, because the humane version needs a clock the money itself keeps, a handover that is gradual, and a reversal that is final before anyone can act on it. That needs money and rules on the same rail, with settlement in seconds, paid for in dollars by people who have never seen a wallet.

02The product

The house. You keep the household money here and name the people it goes to, with a share and a letter for each, and who may witness. Every touch of your phone resets the clock. Go quiet past the period you chose, and the money begins to move to them, slowly, over the handover period, in the shares you gave. Each may take what has reached them and no more. One touch brings all of it home. A payment over your line waits for a witness to say yes on their phone.

The lamps. The first screen draws the family as lamps around yours, with a ring for the quiet period and threads that light up as the money moves. The ten-second toy is letting a month pass, watching the light travel, and pressing “I'm here” to pull it back. The letters open for each person only when the money reaches them.

03Why this is only possible on Arc

A handover is only safe if pulling it back is final before anyone can act on it, and a witness is only useful if they can say yes within seconds at the point of need. Arc settles both in under a second. USDC is the gas, so a family never needs a second token to touch a phone or say yes, and a sixteen-year-old can be a witness with a fingerprint.

04Who pays, and how it earns

  • A quarter of a percent a year on what households keep, streamed per second to the platform and taken from the balance as it is touched.
  • Set-up for families: a guided session that names the people, writes the letters and sets the clock, for people who would rather be walked through it.
  • Households for institutions: the same contract for a mosque fund, a co-op, a small charity, where the treasurer going quiet is a real risk.

At a hundred thousand households averaging five thousand dollars, the custody line alone is over a million dollars a year.

05The market

Estate planning is a hundred-billion-dollar industry for the wealthy and nothing for everyone else. Every family that keeps money on a phone, which in most of the world is every family, has the problem Heir solves and no product for it. Every autonomous agent that holds money has it too.

06What is live today

The six households on the home page are examples and say so: made-up families on the same clock the contract keeps, so what you watch there is what Arc would do. With the house's contract on the registry and a wallet, “Open a household” opens a real one, and everything on it is read from the chain.

07Roadmap

  1. Live nowThe lamps, six worked households, letters, witnesses, nudges, the record, and Heir.sol with every function on a screen: open, configure, name the people and witnesses, fund, touch, nudge, withdraw, pay, approve, fees. Eleven Foundry tests.
  2. 90 daysA phone push when someone asks after you, when a payment waits for you as a witness, and when the ring is about to close; the first fifty real households.
  3. 6 monthsGuided set-up sessions; households for co-ops and small charities; a printable card for the family that explains the house in their language.
  4. 12 monthsHouseholds for agents: an autonomous business that goes quiet hands its balance to the people who ran it.

08The ask

A developer grant of USD 60,000 over six months funds the phone push, guided set-up, translations for five languages, and the first five hundred real households, with milestones at fifty live households, the first witnessed payment on mainnet, and the first letter opened. Draft figure, to be set with the programme.
